Where can I learn Slovenian online for free?
The Centre for Slovene presents SLOnline as a free way to learn the basics independently. Access the course at slonline.si.
What is ZIP and how do I join?
ZIP combines Slovenian learning with an introduction to Slovenian society. The official description lists 180 hours, with a possible extra 60 hours subject to conditions. Not all foreigners automatically qualify: check eligibility and the certificate with an administrative unit, then contact a provider. Infotujci also lists an administrative fee and participant-paid travel and additional materials. Online delivery is possible in suitable cases.
What does SpeakSlovene offer?
SpeakSlovene is a project for short, self-paced everyday conversation practice. A free text sample currently includes a workplace dialogue, translations and a comprehension question. We are planning 10 short lessons of about 5 minutes each for a one-time price of €9.99. Audio recordings and the complete package are still in development; purchases are not yet available.
Does SpeakSlovene replace a full A1 course or an exam?
No. The planned mini-course focuses on practising specific conversations. It does not issue an official language certificate or replace a full A1 programme, ZIP or an official exam. Use the appropriate official process if you need proof of language proficiency.
Which instruction languages are available?
The offer and sample exercise are translated into English, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Macedonian, Ukrainian, Russian, Filipino, Nepali, Hindi, Bengali and Indonesian. Slovenian sentences stay in Slovenian. Choose your language at the top of the learning page.
What happens when I click ‘I’m interested’?
The click and additional confirmation help us assess interest at the planned price. They are not a purchase, reservation or notification sign-up. We currently collect no email addresses and accept no payments.
Public programme conditions can change. Check the current official information from Infotujci and an administrative unit for your eligibility.
